António Machado e Moura has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of Oporto University (FEUP). From 1979 to 1981 he developed research work in the Direction des Etudes et Recherches of Electricité de France (EDF) in Clamart, for the preparation of a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering (field of electromagnetic transients in Electrical Networks of HV and EHV). Professor at FEUP since November 1991 he is an elected member of the Board of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering since July 2010, among other roles he played related to this engineering school, where he now directs the High Voltage Laboratory (LAT). He has devoted particular attention to issues relating to the production of electrical energy by use of renewable sources, particularly hydropower, and has presented several communications at congresses of the specialty, delivered several Conferences and directed several works on the issue of the use of water resources for hydropower production. He is a member of several scientific and professional organizations in Portugal and abroad, and is part of the Scientific Committee of several international congresses and conferences. Also participates in standardization activities and consultancy in the areas of his specialty. He is the author of more than two hundred publications in scientific meetings and technical journals.
