Madalena Dray was graduated in Environmental Engineering by the New University of Lisbon in 1990. Between 1990 and 1997 she worked in the Portuguese company consulting ECOSYSTEM - Consultants in Environmental Engineering, Ltd. Madalena Dray Integrated and coordinated teams of various environmental studies of public and private projects carried out in Portugal. From 1998 to 2008 she worked in the Mozambican consultancy company CONSULTEC - Associated Consultants Ltd, where she was responsible for coordinating the environmental studies unit. She coordinated various environmental impact assessments, environmental management plans and processes of resettlement of public and private projects in Mozambique. Between 2008 and 2012 Madalena Dray was Director of the Socio-Environmental Mphanda Nkuwa Hydroelectric Company, SA, through the construction company Camargo Corrêa (Mozambique). She was responsible for the socio-environmental sustainability issues of a new hydroelectric of 1500MW, on the Zambezi River, currently under development. She is responsible for conducting the licensing process and cooperation with different stakeholders at national and international level, for the fulfillment of the IFC Sustainability Guidelines and the Equator Principles. She coordinated the community involvement, planning and implementation of social development programs in the communities affected by the project. Currently she advises Camargo Corrêa, for socio-environmental and sustainability projects in Africa.
