Concettina Buccella received the M.S. degree and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of L’Aquila, Italy, in 1988 and from the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in 2005,respectively. After graduation she was a Research Engineer at Italtel SpA, L’Aquila, then in 1991 she joined the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of L’Aquila, where she was an assistant professor and since 2001 is Associate Professor of Electrotechnics. Her current research interests deal with distributed generation and smart grids, modulation techniques for power converters, renewable energy management, analytical and numerical modelling, electromagnetic compatibility, in the past dealt with controlled active shields, power line communications, models of biological systems, applications of neural networks and wavelet transform. She authored more than 100 papers on international journals and on conference proceedings, including about thirty IEEE Transactions. Concettina Buccella is a Senior Member of the IEEE (Class 2003), a member of the Power Electronics Committee and of the Smart Grids Committee of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society; for many years she was a member of the Electrostatic Process Committee of the IEEE Industry Applications Society.
