Maria Filomena Delgado is licensed and postgraduate by Lund University, Sweden, Lusaka, Zambia. Since 2012, she is Minister of Family and Women Promotion, with main activities and responsibilities related to the development of families and rural communities, gender equality and promotion of women. From 1982 to 1984 she was assistant to the Regional Secretary for Southern Africa Pan-African Women, and Regional Secretary from 1984 to 1986. Between 1987 and 1997 she was Director of the Research Office of that same organization, having as main responsibilities the preparation of studies and projects to support its activities. From April 1997 to January 2007 she served as Deputy Minister of Family and Women Promotion and from January 2007 to October 2007 she was Vice Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development with the responsibility of coordinating the Rural Development and Poverty Alleviation Program. She is member of the National Committee of the Organization of Angolan Women (OMA).
